How the Process Works

We do not use automated payment processing at this stage. All memberships are set up through a brief email exchange, giving us the chance to ensure you are on the right plan for your trip.

Send Your Enquiry

Use the contact form, selecting your preferred plan. Include your intended travel dates and any specific sites or interests you want to focus on. If you are unsure which plan is appropriate, describe your trip and we will recommend the right tier. We respond within the timeframe listed for each plan.

Confirmation and Payment

We will send a confirmation email with a secure payment link. Payment is processed through our PCI-compliant gateway. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and PayPal. Bank transfer is available for institutional and group memberships. Your access begins on the day of confirmed payment, not on your travel date.

Access and Support

Immediately on payment confirmation, you receive login credentials for our guide portal. Your selected guides are available for immediate reading and download. Consultation calls are scheduled at a mutually convenient time within two weeks of your request. The support email address is staffed throughout your membership period by the person who set up your account.

Payment Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Explorer memberships are active for 60 days from the date of payment confirmation. Traveller memberships last 180 days. Expedition memberships are annual (365 days) and auto-renew unless cancelled. We send a renewal notice 30 days before the auto-renewal date. You can cancel auto-renewal at any time by emailing us — no charge is made after cancellation notice.
Yes. You can upgrade at any time during your membership period. You pay only the price difference between your current plan and the new plan, pro-rated from the date of upgrade. For example, if you are midway through an Explorer membership and want to move to Traveller, you would pay approximately USD 21 (the difference, adjusted for time remaining). Contact us to arrange an upgrade.
We accept international credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), PayPal, and bank transfer. All card payments are processed through a PCI DSS-compliant gateway. We do not store card details on our systems. Bank transfer is available for institutional and group memberships — contact us for our IBAN and correspondent bank details.
We offer a full refund within 7 days of purchase if you have not yet downloaded any PDF guides. After 7 days, we do not issue refunds on the grounds that digital content has been accessed. If your visit is cancelled due to circumstances beyond your control (documented natural disaster, health emergency, or visa refusal), we will extend your membership period by the equivalent of the lost travel time. Contact us with documentation and we will resolve it fairly.
Yes. When completing the contact form, note that the membership is a gift and provide the recipient's email address. We will send the access credentials directly to them on the date you specify, or hold them for you to forward personally. Gift memberships are fully functional and can be upgraded by the recipient at any time.
Yes. Groups of five or more receive a 20% discount. Groups of fifteen or more receive a 30% discount, and can request a dedicated introductory webinar with one of our researchers covering the key sites relevant to their programme. Institutional licences for universities or research departments are available on request — please contact us with details of your institution and the nature of your programme.
